Hi! I’m Krysta Cotten, I’m from Southwest Louisiana and I attend McNeese State University. I was lucky enough to be born into the Special Olympics family—my mom was a coach before I was even born—and I know that my life would be completely different without all of the amazing experiences and lessons Special Olympics has given me. Because of Special Olympics, I know the true definitions of respect, love, compassion, and courage and I truly can say that I’ve learned more about life from Special Olympics and Project UNIFY than I have in any classroom of high education. Playing on unified softball, basketball, and volleyball teams has given me some of my fondest memories. I am so honored to have the chance to work as a Project UNIFY Initiative Coordinator and give other youth the same kinds of opportunities that I know have made me the person I am today. I’m addicted to Special Olympics Louisiana, so I guess they’re stuck with me for life!
